Last Thursday, Solange graced the Congo Square stage at Jazzfest in New Orleans with enormous, dazzling energy. Her performance featured songs from her True EP, as well as all time Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams favorites, “I Decided” and “Tony.” The atmosphere was relaxed but expressive, as Solange added to the ambiance with her diva-esque dance moves that swayed the crowd. Fantastically dressed in an orange top, bubble-gum pink shorts, and patent pink heels, she reflected the vibrant and care free environment of the audience and entire festival.
The performance set also had room for a heart warming sentiment from the singer. Solange expressed how her Louisiana family roots compelled her to come “home,” as she moved to New Orleans to work on her forthcoming studio album. The crowd mostly comprised of Nola natives welcomed her with open arms and applauded her into the following song.
A passing spectator asked, “Who’s this performing?,” as she couldn’t help but to stop dance and sing along. Another women declared “I love her!” right before rushing to catch the last few minutes of the zydeco set near by.
Over all, Solange gave an entertaining and intimate set on a bright sunny day in New Orleans. Check out some photos via neworleansgrown.com
